Which wines pair well with salty foods? My wife and I own a little start-up company called Salt of the Earth. It is a seasoned salt that enhances the flavor of many foods. We are often asked which wines our seasoned salt pair well with. Can you help us?
If I receive a bottle of wine in the mail and it has leaked 6-7 drops, is the wine now bad ? or can it still be cellared ? Henry

If stored in a cool dark room, why would red wine need to be in a dark green bottle?
While out at dinner with some friends, I brought a bottle of nice wine (a $50 Howell Mountain cab from 2006, from one of my favorite small negociant producers) to enjoy while paying corkage. The waiter opened the wine, and... disaster! The wine was definitely corked -- it distinctly smelled of musty basement. So we ordered a $100 bottle from the wine list (a well-known "name brand" winery from Stag's Leap District from 2009), and enjoyed our meal. But, when the bill came... there was still a $25 corkage fee! I didn't want to make a scene, but now I wonder... should I have done so? Given the circumstances, the fee seems a bit over-the-top, after all, the only extra work the restaurant did regarding our wine service was open and sample the corked bottle (we used the same number of glasses, and the restaurant made their 75% markup over the retail price of the wine we did wind up drinking -- it runs around $60 retail here). What're your thoughts?
I'm interested in starting a wine tasting business; here is my thought - I'd work with wineries to pour their wine at people's homes as a tasting party. People can then purchase wine and/or join the wine club. I could even pick up and deliver their wine club shipments to their homes for a nominal fee. Would this be legal to do? Would I need to have any kind of a license? Thanks!
I've never really been a wine drinker, mostly because I know very little about wine, not because I don't want to be. I would like to be able to go to a restaurant and order a glass of wine or to a store and buy a bottle, but the selection can be overwhelming. What's the best way to get introduced to the "World of Wine"? Are there clases held locally?
I have a bottle of 1970 Dom Petignon. I have had it for at least 20 years. It has been stored in a dark, relatively cool place. In no way can I attest to its current quality other than the above information. How could I successfully sell this? thank you
A restaurant recently opened in my neighborhood offering wine on tap. At first, I scoffed at the idea but after a little research, I'm intrigued. There are so many positive attributes to wine on tap, namely the reduction of waste. What are your views on this subject? Can a wonderful wine taste just as good from a tap? And, is it true that bars in Europe have been serving wine on tap for a while now?
If I go to a dinner and the total bill comes to $300 before tip. However, the wine purchased from the restaurant as part of the dinner contributed $140 towards the total of $300. Do I include the wine as part of the total to calculate the tip? I do not want to penalize the server but to a degree I feel like I am getting hit twice? (1) Tipping the server on $300, and (2) Paying $140 for a bottle of wine that I could probably have purchased for $75 "retail" when in fact the restaurant actually purchases at less than retail. Again, how would you calculate the tip in this scenario?
