Classes

I've never really been a wine drinker, mostly because I know very little about wine, not because I don't want to be. I would like to be able to go to a restaurant and order a glass of wine or to a store and buy a bottle, but the selection can be overwhelming. What's the best way to get introduced to the "World of Wine"? Are there clases held locally?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

The best way to find classes and tastings is right here on Local Wine Events, a great resource for anyone seeking to learn about wine. The ideal would be to combine some sort of formal instruction about wine regions, grape varieties, and wine types with guided tasting. There are many entry-level courses, and tastings of all sorts are offered regularly in many cities. As you point out, at first the subject can be confusing and overwhelming given all the countries, regions and types of wine. This makes it particularly helpful to have a knowledgeable teacher. Once you achieve a basic understanding, the door will be open to a world of discovery - and the process never stops because there are always new wines, producers and vintages!
