Can wine pop its own cork?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

The answer is yes, if the wine undergoes fairly extreme temperature changes. If a wine freezes, the cork will usually pop through the capsule. Or, if there are variations in storage or shipping conditions from cool to hot, that could cause an expansion of the wine and push the cork up through the capsule.
