Wine Storage

I like to enjoy a glass or two of wine in the evening, but I have no idea the best way to store it to help it keep the flavor. I have purchased box and screw-top bottles, just because they store easier. Any suggestions or ideas would be very appreciated

My suggestion is that you scroll through past questions concerning techniques to preserve opened bottles of wine. You'll find many such inquiries along with my answers. In short, the simplest and least costly method relies on "evacuation" using a stopper and hand pump. Several such devices are widely available and work reasonably well for about one day. However, you should consider that one complaint is that pumping also removes desirable aromatic elements; this is a concern with delicate wines. Another approach is to apply inert gas which displaces the air in an open, partially full bottle, and then seal the bottle with a stopper. The few required parts together with a canister of gas can be purchased for less than $20. This approach is not perfect but is favored by some over the pump technique. If you are prepared to pay more, you can invest in a more elaborate preservation system for mulitiple bottles with a cabinet and taps for each wine. Check online for the many options currently available from wine accessory merchants.
