Several months ago my wife put a number of bottles of wine in our kitchen refrigerator. We now need the extra space so I wanted to store them at room temperature elseware. However my wife insists that once wine has been refrigerated, it can no longer be stored at room temperature. Is this true?

The LWE Q&A is a terrific resource at this point regarding questions about wine storage. I have provided guidance on many such questions over the years, including the specific one you raise. You might want to scroll through the pages online to find those of interest. In short, there is nothing to fear about moving wine from a refrigerator to room temperature. In fact, a kitchen refrigerator is far from ideal for storage of months (and certainly years) as it varies enormously in temperature, humidity and light. It's far better, if you don't have a wine cabinet or basement, to use the bottom of a cool, dark closet for longer term cellaring. It might make sense to drink these particular wines sooner rather than later, particularly if they are delicate whites.
