Wine Server At An Event

What is the server of the wine called? A waiter, a steward or is it the host?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

I am not sure exactly what you mean, but if you are referring to the dedicated wine specialist at a restaurant, the term is sommelier or wine steward. That person customarily buys the wines, maintains the restaurant's cellar, assists guests with selection, and serves the wine. If you are asking about some other type of "server," there really is not a specific term.
