Wine Identification

I discovered a bottle of wine that had been sitting in my parent\'s cellar for years. The name is \"Reserva de Cavas Murviedro\", it is a red wine, and also says \"Cosecha 1978\". It was imported by Schenk USA , Inc. out of Glenview, Illinois. Is this wine valuable, or can I go ahead and drink it?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

I believe the wine you found comes from Bodegas Murviedro in Requena, Spain in the Region of Valencia. This winery was founded by the Swiss group, Schenk, in 1927. They currently produce a variety of wines, but I do not see a "Reserva" on their product list. For futher information, you may want to contact them directly via their website (www.murviedro.es).

That said, despite its age, this wine would not be considered highly valuable, so by all means pull the cork and enjoy the wine, sooner rather than later!
