I received a 2016 bottle of this wine as a gift. The gift giver stated that the person in Greece who sold them the bottle said that we should wait at least two years before consuming it and it would be better to wait up to five years. The limited information I found on the web seems to contradict this assertion. What is you opinion?

I would have to taste the specific wine since styles of this unusual Greek wine can vary. At its most concentrated, it could have a dense color together with elevated alcohol content and tannins, often requiring several years of bottle aging to resolve and soften. Without the opportunity to taste your bottle, my impulse is to say that this 2016 is still very youthful and is likely to be more appealing after a few more years in bottle. It's also worth remembering that there is in fact no precise formula to determine exactly when a given wine is at its best. It depends on the individual example and, above all, on your own taste preferences.
