Turkish Wine

Where can I purchase Turkish wine in the South Bay Area?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

This is the first question I've received about Turkish wines, which are just beginning to be distributed in the US and can be terrific values. Indigenous Turkish varieties are fascinating and offer unique flavor profiles. Look for such tongue-twisting grapes such as Öküzgözü, Bogazkere and Kalecik Karasi (reds) along with Narince (white). But to answer your question, I need to know which South Bay. Do you mean the one near Los Angeles or San Francisco, or one of the towns on Long Island, New York or in Florida? One Turkish brand, Kavaklidere, is gaining traction but still is not available in many states. If it's not sold in stores in your area, you can purchase the wines online from a retailer in another state. There are shops who stock Turkish wines in New York (many outlets including Mister Wright), California, Washington, D.C. (Potomac Wines has several dozen types), and other locations.
