I've had a case of unopened 2010 Sangiovese stored in the garage for about one year. Is it still good? Thanks, Rick Lewis

Your question brings several thoughts to mind. First, a garage in daily use is unsuitable for wine storage except, possibly, in cool or temperate climates with comparatively little temperature variation - and no hot days. Even if the garage is insulated and maintained at a desirable temperature all year (in the 50s F), there will still be inevitable fluctuations when the door is opened. Of course, some people dedicate their garage to storage and never use it for their vehicle, so the door is opened infrequently. What is your situation? The Sangiovese is a young wine and should normally be fine, particularly if it is a more substantial, concentrated example, unless of course you live in a hot climate or experience hot summers, and your garage is opened several times a day. The best answer to your question is simply to pull the cork and judge for yourself. Then, if it seems fine, move the rest of the bottles to a better location in your basement or the bottom of a cool, dark closet; if not, then at least you have the makings of a good vinegar!
