Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

As you will see if you scroll through the questions posted on LWE, there have been many pertaining to the value of a single bottle of wine. It isn't possible to determine a current price of the vast majority of wines unless the bottle in question is one of the world's famed classics which has an auction history. There are stray bottles of Pagliarese Chianti Classico from earlier vintages listed by auction sites, but I'm not sure they are a reliable guide. This property was acquired by a more famous one, Felsina, also situated in Castelnuovo Berardegna, in the 1990s, and they use the grapes in their own wine. The real question is whether this wine is sound, and this depends on how it has been stored: It could be a pleasant surprise or over the hill.
