How To Store A Good White Wine

How do you store a good white wine if you don't have a wine cellar?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

Let me back into your question by saying that keeping wine for a period of years really demands proper storage conditions. Even if you intend on storing a limited number of bottles on a continuing basis, the best option is to purchase a small temperature-controlled wine cabinet. There are many models on the market which are not very expensive. If, on the other hand, you are only concerned about a few bottles you will probably keep for several months at the longest, you can take advantage of a location in your house or apartment which is reliably cool, dark and reasonably stable in temperature. A basement is ideal, if you place the bottles on the floor away from light and heat sources. if you do not have a basement, try the bottom of a closet. Lay bottles sealed with corks on their sides in either case. If you have an expensive wine you treasure, buy a thermometer which records high and low temperature (models are sold online that are not costly) and place it where you plan to store the wine. You can pick the best possible storage site by testing several locations.
