Getting The Lowest Prices From Boutique Wineries

I am interested in getting the lowest prices on wine from the boutique wineries. My goal is to utilize the fulfillment center in shipping the wine to the direct sales (generated from the home tasting parties). There are many wineries to choose from, and I need guidance on how to reach the right winery people. Also, how can I ensure making the wisest decisions for the purposes of maximizing profit while delivering the best value for the customer?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

In order to give you good advice, I would need clarification of a few points. Are you working with a company which holds wine tastings in private homes? You refer to a "fulfillment center," but I'm not sure if that is some sort of internet-based platform for consumers, allowing them access to small U.S. wineries. You indicate that there are many participating wineries, and that you want to reach the "right winery people." Is your purpose to obtain unpublished offers of unique wines or small lots? If you can clarify these aspects, then I will be happy to try to guide you. As to making wise purchasing decisions - delivering value while maximizing profit - that is a very familiar objective to me as I have been a buyer for both a national importer and an online retailer. To find products that fit this profile, there really isn't a secret: You have to taste a large number of wines and rely on your own palate and business sense to pick the winners. Success hinges on your own skill and the effort invested in the selection process - and on a having a good feel for the preferences of your customers.
