Cold Chain

Dear Sir, we made the mistake of leaving a bottle of limoncello and a bottle of mirto in the freezer several days before a party and then of leaving them at room temperature all night long during the party (don't ask). Can we still put them in the fridge or in the freezer since it's alcohol and not meat or any other decaying thing? Many thanks.
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

Somehow, the rumor has spread that moving alcoholic beverages from cellar or room temperature to a refrigerator, and then back, will be very damaging. You'll find many questions expressing this concern with respect to wine on the LWE forum, if you scroll through the pages. To be clear, there is no reason to be worried, except perhaps with respect to very old, extremely delicate wines - which in most cases should not be refrigerated. As far as higher-alcohol beverages are concerned, such as the Limoncello and Mirto liqueurs you have, there is absolutely no reason for panic. Even after putting the bottles through what sounds like a stress test, I doubt that the taste has been affected in any discernible way.
