Bottle Of Dom P

Hello, I have a bottle of Dom P. - for the last year I kept it in a refrigerator on its side. What do you suggest? Is this the right way to store? Thanks for any help you can offer.
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

The refrigerator is not the best place to store wine because the interior varies considerably in temperature, humidity and light as the door is opened. On the other hand, cooler temperatures are certainly preferable to heat in terms of wine storage. Champagne is particularly sensitive and should be treated with care. This means that, if you want to keep your bottle for years, you should find a location with the least variability. This could be a spot on the basement floor or even the bottom of a cool, dark closet.
