Best Cab

Which Napa Valley winery makes sweetest cab sauvignion?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

This is in fact a challenging question to answer since Cabernet Sauvignon is not a "sweet" wine in terms of measurable, taste-able sugar content. That said, alcohol itself has a sweet taste, so Napa Cabs approaching 15% alcohol may seem sweet to some drinkers. But how you judge such a wine depends on many other factors which may offset or reinforce perceived sweetness including acidity, pH and tannin. In terms of style, I would suggest the modestly priced Layer Cake Cab, which has a California (not Napa) designation. Rutherford Ranch comes from Napa Valley and is one you might like, selling at a below-average price for its origin. Or perhaps Silver Oak Napa Valley which is more expensive. Stylistically, it may also fit your preferences.
