Waxing and Waning (Poetic and Otherwise ) is quite simply a blog of thoughts from a lady who loves her wine. No fancy titles to my name. No special credentials. I'm a Madison, Wisconsin dink (double income no kids) who loves preparing an amazing meal with my honey, pairing it with dynamite wine, and then blogging about the experience (emphasis on the experience). It's easy to skip all the pretension when you are content to just share the journey of learning about the mystery of the juice.

Here, I am trying to publish and discover the wines as Amarone Brunello Barolo Bolgheri Nobile Syrah Pinot Nero Sauvignon Franciacorta Prosecco etc… that reflect the high quality of indigenous grapes made by artisan producers using traditional techniques. This blog is all about quality Italian wines -- wines from family owned and operated vineyards. It's also about the winemakers who produce traditional styles of great Italian wines, utilising the indigenous grape varieties of Italy.
