The Wine Tribune: Pro Modest, Affordable Wines In Socio-historical Context

by Peter Di Lorenzi

I have launched The Wine Tribune on behalf of a specific audience: ordinary, non-affluent wine drinkers who can rarely afford to spend more than — and, more frequently, as much as — the cost of an affordable, home-cooked meal on a bottle of wine....Ordinary, non-affluent people who drink modestly-priced wines are largely ignored by ‘important’, established wine journalists, scorers, critics, and educators, but they are not unimportant; and they are certainly not a minority. They constitute, in fact, the great majority of wine consumers, and they buy from 80% to 90% or more — depending on the selected price cutoff point — of wine sold in the U.S. And many of them, despite their non-affluence, are people who love wine and/or who appreciate its ability to enrich their meals, lives, and families.

365 Wines In 365 Days And They’re All Under $10 “Great Tasting Wine … For The Rest Of Us” There are GREAT wines found the world over and as seen in the facts above, those of us living in Ontario are some of the luckiest wine "luvers" in the world! We have a HUGE selection of wines from around the world available to us as well as having the luxury of having a GREAT home made product as well! One of the most asked questions we get are there any good wines under $10? People will spend good money on good wine but in these days they also want to save some money. To this end we have identified almost 500 wines available from around the world in the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) that are indeed under $10!!! The goal is to start December 1st, 2008 and taste 365 Wines in 365 days. Joe www.iLuvWine.com

Waxing And Waning (poetic And Otherwise)

by Anne Sayers

Waxing and Waning (Poetic and Otherwise ) is quite simply a blog of thoughts from a lady who loves her wine. No fancy titles to my name. No special credentials. I'm a Madison, Wisconsin dink (double income no kids) who loves preparing an amazing meal with my honey, pairing it with dynamite wine, and then blogging about the experience (emphasis on the experience). It's easy to skip all the pretension when you are content to just share the journey of learning about the mystery of the juice.
