About Samuel Guibert:

Samuel is the eldest son of Aimé & Véronique Guibert de La Vaissiere, founders of the Mas de Daumas Gassac estate in the late 60’s. He is the Head Winemaker at Mas de Daumas Gassac since 2000. Before that he spent 7 years in New Zealand importing and distributing European wines in NZ & Australia. He was the Export Director for Mas de Daumas Gassac from 2002 to 2007.

Mas de Daumas Gassac:

Founded by Aimé and Véronique Guibert (Samuel's parents) in 1971, their first vintages were made with the guidance of the legendary Emile Peynaud. Mas de Daumas Gassac became THE French acquisition target of Robert Mondavi, because Mondavi believed their terroir was the best in the Languedoc. After Aimé rebuffed his generous offer, Mondavi wanted to purchase other land in the area. Aimé organized the appellation to protest against Mondavi, and was ultimately successful in turning him away. Check out the documentary “Mondovino” for an interview with Aimé about this chapter of Mas de Daumas Gassac, also known as the "Grand Cru of the Languedoc".
