One of the highlights of our last visit to Champagne was meeting and tasting with Julien Lancelot of Champagne Lancelot-Pienne. And now you can enjoy the same pleasure! Julien will be here at Chain Bridge Cellars on Tuesday, October 22, pouring five fantastic bottles of Champagne and sharing the story of this exciting domaine. No fee to join us – just reserve one of the five 30-minute tasting slots from 5-7:30pm and enjoy the bubbles and fun!

In the early 1990s, Jean-Baptist Lancelot was the chief viticulturist for Mumm while also farming his own grapes in the Grand Cru Chardonnay village of Cramant. His son began making Champagne in the 1950s and today, Gilles Lancelot and his son, Julien, craft small quantities of deliciously precise and pure wines from the old Mumm facility in Cramant. Julien will be sharing:

Lancelot-Pienne Champagne Accord Majeur Brut NV (Base vintage 2017)

Lancelot-Pienne Champagne Accord Majeur Brut NV (Base vintage 2016) - Two different releases of the estate's main non-vintage bottling, both around 70% Pinot Meunier from 40 different tiny parcels of 40-50 year-old vines in the Marne and Cote de Blancs. One bottle is mainly vintage 2017 wine with reserves while the other is mainly 2016. You'll love tasting the difference vintage makes in non-vintage Champagne!

Lancelot-Pienne Instant Present Blanc de Blancs Brut NV

Lancelot-Pienne Table Ronde Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut NV - Two different expressions of Lancelot's mastery of Chardonnay, the first from Cote de Blancs and Côteaux Sud d’Epernay and the other from 100% Grand Cru vines in Cramant, Avize, and Chouilly and finished "Extra Brut."

Lancelot-Pienne Cuvee Marie Lancelot Extra Brut 2018 - A rare Blanc de Blancs entirely from Cramant that showcases the village's chalky soils and intense elegance.

This deliciously festive Champagne tasting takes place in the main shop around the tasting table and will cost you…nothing! There’s no fee for joining Julien and trying the wines, but we do ask you to RSVP for the time slot that works best for you. Note that the 5-5:30 tasting is usually the busiest, so consider coming at 6 or 6:30 is you can. Reserve your spots today.
