LOCATION & PHONE

Wine Vault & Bistro is located in the heart of San Diego between Little Italy and Old Town at 3731-A India Street on the upstairs terrace. Follow the black handrail up the stairs from the sidewalk to our front door. Our phone number is (619) 295-3939.

PARKING

Meters are free after 6:00 so if you park in a metered space just put in enough money (usually under a buck) to get you to 6:00 and then you’ll be home free. Free non-metered on-street parking is also usually available within a 3-block radius. You can also park in the lot behind Shakespeare Pub two doors down, but do not park in El Indio's lot unless you want your car towed! If you can’t find parking next to the restaurant, there’s always LOTS OF PARKING on San Diego Avenue and the adjacent side streets just past the Chevron station across Washington Street. So please don't drive yourself crazy endlessly going around in circles waiting to pounce on that perfect spot when there's TONS OF PARKING less than three blocks away!

WINE SALES

Although some wines may be in limited quantities, all wines poured at this dinner will be available for purchase at the restaurant until sold out. We reserve the right to limit sales of any rare or allocated wines at our discretion.

WINE NOTES & BOTTLE PRICES

Nicolas Feuillatte Reserve Brut Champagne ~ $38

(France) Review by Wine Enthusiast ~ One of the best-selling Champagnes in the world, this is a blend of the three main Champagne grapes. It is elegant and fruity, with a soft, balanced character that makes it very drinkable. White fruits are cut with lemon acidity that gives a lively, crisp aftertaste.

NV Austin Hope Chardonnay ~ $17

(Paso Robles) Winemaker’s Notes: A multi-vintage blend. A beautiful golden hue anticipates bright tropical notes on the nose. Shows riper warm-climate qualities that are harmoniously balanced with the brisk acidity and lemon zest notes of the cool-climate fruit. Clean and fresh entry, gaining midpalate weight with layered tropical and honeydew flavors, all finishing with a crisp flourish.

2022 Turley “Pesenti” Zinfandel ~ $62

(Paso Robles) Winemaker’s Notes: This certified organic estate-owned vineyard was planted in the 1920’s on primarily limestone soil. Though the vines are head-trained and dry-farmed, the soil plays the most important role in distinguishing this vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles. The wines have a brightness, with chalk and floral characteristic aromas unique to the site, and to Zinfandel in general. An outright exuberant nose of ripe red raspberry, fruit leather and high-toned spice. Bright and energetic on the palate with pure, sweet red fruits and holiday spices. A long, almost old-world Pinot note on the finish, the Pesenti is always a standout.

2020 Juan Gil "Blue Label" Spanish Red Blend ~ $35

(Jumilla, Spain) Winemaker's Notes: 60% Monastrell (Mourvedre), 30% Cabernet Sauvignon + 10% Syrah. Intense cherry red with garnet sparkles in the glass, and intense aromas including highlights of black fruit over roasted notes and a lightly balsamic and spicy base. Fine and aromatic on the palate. Light, unctuous and very flavorsome, sensation of black fruits that harmonize with fine roasted touches. Round tannins and good acidity. Structured and very elegant. The Monastrell vineyards are 2,800 foot elevation with an average vine age of 55 years. They are situated on chalky and sandy hillside soils with excellent drainage, allowing them to ripen in optimal conditions. The production does not exceed one ton per acre. The Cabernet and Syrah vineyards are located at 2,300 feet elevation with an average vine age of 15 years. The fermentation is carried out separately in small open tank fermenters. The wine is then aged for 18 months in new French and American oak barrels. ~~~ Review by Wine Advocate ~ 92 points: Heady, ripe and generously oaked. It hit the scale at 15.5% alcohol and matured in French and American oak barrels for 18 months. It has abundant tannins and a dry finish. It's powerful and concentrated, in need of time in bottle or powerful food. ~~~ Review by Wine Enthusiast ~ 92 points: Dark garnet to the eye, this wine offers blackberry, butterscotch and sage leaf aromas. Polished tannins provide a backdrop to blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, anisette and nutmeg flavors. A refreshing vein of acidity plies the palate from first sip to the lingering finish.

2022 St. Supery “Dollarhide Estate” Muscat Canelli ~ $29

(Napa Valley) Winemaker's Notes: Beautiful in pale yellow color accented with hints of green, this is a rich, well balanced sweet wine. Floral aromas fill the glass with white blossoms, mandarin orange and fresh apricot. On the palate, flavors of ripe peach and honeysuckle meld together with citrus undertones and a tangerine zest component to create an opulent and refreshing wine. Perfect with blue cheese as an appetizer, with spicy Asian dishes as a main or with stone fruits in a cream or custard base for dessert.

THE FINE PRINT

Due to fluctuations of supply, we reserve the right to make substitutions of equal or greater value in case any of the wines or foods become unavailable. Please, ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 21 ... even if your babysitter flakes out on you at the last minute!

Hope to see you here. Buon appetito and cheers!

Chris
