What the Oak?! Learn About Oak Forests, Barrels & History

April 17th, Thursday 6-7:15pm

Resolu Cellars Winery & Tasting Room

Wine is more than just a drink—it’s a journey of flavor, history, and craftsmanship. Learning about wine, winemaking, and AVAs helps you appreciate how soil, climate, and technique shape every sip. Whether you’re a casual sipper or a dedicated enthusiast, expanding your wine knowledge makes every glass more enjoyable!

Mark your calendars for April 17th! We’re excited to invite you to our next wine education class with Andy McVay. In this fun and informative session, we’ll explore the important role oak plays in winemaking, from the forests it comes from to the barrels it’s turned into.

Andy will walk us through the history of oak in the winemaking process, how different types of oak shape the flavor of wine, and the impact of oak aging on those rich, complex notes we all love. Plus, our winemaker will share some of his own barrel strategies for Resolu Cellars wines—giving you an insider look at how we craft our wines.

Whether you're a wine newbie or a seasoned enthusiast, this class will give you a whole new appreciation for one of the most important elements of winemaking.Featured Resolu Cellars wines reflecting barrel influence: '21 Barbera, '21 Pinot Noir, or '22 Chardonnay

Previous attendee L.W. says, "Andy's style is so approachable, informative, and diverse. He's like a bottomless well of wine knowledge."

Save your seat! The tasting room in Historic Downtown Hillsboro opens at 3 PM, and seating for the wine class begins at 5:45 PM. Seating is limited. Class fee: $25 (includes a glass of wine). Wines from the current Resolu Cellars portfolio, in addition to ciders, beers, and n/a options, are available for purchase and bottles to go.
