Join us at Vermilion to discuss the native grapes and hybrids that are adapted for the climates and terroir of the US wine growing regions.

Native grapes to the USA are hardier and perfectly adapted to the regions that they are from. This makes them easier to farm more sustainably and consistently. Hybrids are grapes that are the product of genetic crossing of these native grape varieties and international grape varieties. They are the best of both worlds - the hardiness of a native grape with the flavor profile of an international variety. Many winemakers love to work with these grapes for their unique profiles and ability to make consistent wines even in inconsistent weather conditions. Some winemakers and wine professionals even believe that hybrids are the future of the domestic wine industry! Let's learn why.

Join us for a casual seated wine class where we will discuss the history and science behind hybrid and native grapes while we taste through six of our favorites at Vermilion.

Included with your ticket:

  • Seated wine class with certified sommelier and Neighborhood Restaurant Group Wine Director, Erin Dudley CSW
  • Tasting of six fine domestic wines
  • Small serving of artisanal cheese and accoutrement to accompany your tasting
