Consistently voted one of the best restaurants in the city since 1989, Sam Chanhao introduced delicious Thai food to Calgary long before the cuisine was well known.
Now he has retired, and his long-time colleague and chef, Patcharin Smith, who opened Pad Thai in Mount Pleasant in 2016, has taken over. Growing up in Bangkok, Smith’s recipes have been passed down through her family and recreated with her own modern flair using premium local ingredients to elevate the dishes - not only Imperial Thai cuisine but also local Thai dishes that have never been served in the city before.
