For a wine culture that is so ancient - the Romans were drinking Spanish wine centuries before they even conquered Gaul - Spanish wines continue to bring us new grapes, new styles, and exciting wine discoveries all the time. This class is going to experience the whole geography of what Spain has to offer.
We'll start with some bracing white wines like Verdejo and Albariño from the north. Then we'll roll across Spain tasting red wine highlights from French-style blends from Navarra to hot-climate Syrah from the Mediterranean, and of course, Spain's signature wine: Tempranillo from Rioja.
We will have bread, olives, and some Spanish cheeses too as we explore wine and food pairing fundamentals. This class is limited to only 12 students, so sign up now!
WHO SHOULD ATTEND This is a survey course for beginners and enthusiasts alike. It assumes some exposure to wine but little or no formal wine knowledge. This program is appropriate for both consumers and professionals in all wine, food, hospitality and service industries.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN Students will learn technical wine tasting, the major Spanish wine grapes, wine and food pairing basics, and fundamentals of wine style. The emphasis is on providing an overview of Spanish wines and wine regions.
