Local Event
Wine in the south of France - the Mediterranean arc that stretches from Italy to Spain - is about 1,000 years older than wine in the rest of France, and it shows. These wines tend to be rugged and rustic, highly blended from multiple grapes, and extremely expressive of the particular place they come from.
In this class, you'll experience a range of wines, from Provence in the east and the southern Rhône Valley all the way west to Corbières in Languedoc-Roussillon. You'll learn wines, grapes, geography, and history in the most delicious way possible. By the time this class is over, you'll be speaking Mourvèdre fluently!
We will have bread, olives, and some French cheeses too as we explore wine and food pairing fundamentals. This class is limited to only 12 students, so sign up now!
WHO SHOULD ATTEND This is a survey course for beginners and enthusiasts alike. It assumes some exposure to wine but little or no formal wine knowledge. This program is appropriate for both consumers and professionals in all wine, food, hospitality and service industries.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN Students will learn technical wine tasting, the major southern French wine grapes, wine and food pairing basics, and fundamentals of wine style. The emphasis is on providing an overview of Mediterranean French wines and wine regions.
