Our favorite nights of the summer somehow always involve sharing really fine wines with friends, family, and colleagues. Sometimes we succumb to the most venerable (aka "exorbitantly expensive") wines made around the world. Most of the time, we happily hunt and drink little-known wines that mimic legendary quality at wallet-friendlier price points. Trophy wines are only occasional luxuries for us, so we rely on serious tasting forays to find the best wines made by lesser-known artisan winemakers anywhere in the world.

We have discovered and organized a wonderful flight of red and white wines that we are excited about for this year's walk-around tasting. The wines would turn heads in even the most jaded wine crowd. They come from the Piedmonte, Oregon's Willamette Valley, Paso Robles, and the southernmost zone of Chile's wine-producing region. We cannot wait to pop these corks with you and have made sure that these wines are available in Massachusetts just in case you fall for them as heavily as we have.

Adam Japko, CEO of Esteem Media, Managing Partner of New England Home, and creator of WineZag, has been in the wine industry for more than 30 years. With a passion for wine and design, Adam enjoys educating his friends in the design field about nontraditional approaches and quality wine-tasting experiences. He will be joined by his Boston-based friend and colleague, Richard Auffrey, creator of The Passionate Foodie and a certified wine educator and sake and port specialist.
