Welcome to South America in 7 Glasses, part of the World of Wine Series.
South America has a problem, especially Argentina and Chile. In the eyes of the general consumer, they often get lumped together into the "good and cheap" category. In the end, this doesn't do them any favors. Both countries are breaking out of their type-casted roles and producing truly spectacular and surprising wines, reaching well beyond Cabernet and Malbec. This is one of our favorite classes to teach as it brings so much into the mix, politics, intrigue, disease, terroir, and stories about relentless pioneers.
The World Of Wine Series introduces 100 wines from 100 of the world’s most famous appellations. As with all of our events, we use wine as a way to connect dots. We draw lines between flavors, farming, culture, and beyond. It’s a way to sip wine and engage the world in ways that that can be sometimes hilarious, at times deadly serious, but most importantly, always intoxicatingly interesting.
