Join us at the LearnAboutWine School (LAW School) and pass the Beverage Aptitude Review (BAR Exam) where you'll enhance your wine knowledge.

LAW SCHOOL - a fun name for a serious program! Founder Ian Blackburn said “why is the industry so focused on only educating the trade and NOT the consumer?” We have all these credentials aiming at turning wine lovers into wine professionals in wine … what about educating passionate influential consumers? They could really improve the market if they were more competent and confident consumers, right? I identified this need when a series of Lawyers came to me and said “I hate my day job but it pays the bills and I want and need to have a hobby I love! Can you put together a program that isn’t dumbed down and pushes my wine knowledge?” I was happy to oblige and have hosted over 1200 LAW SCHOOL students with a 95% pass rate and seriously they are the best wine ambassadors the world has ever seen!!!

Think about it - consumers that will pay good money to attend a structured wine class are probably the best wine customers in the world! We created a product that delivers WORLD WINE COMPETITANCY! We promise to unlock the World of Wine! An enriching and immersive experience, designed to empower participants with a deeper understanding of wine from vine to glass.

"Our goal is to provide participants with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the world of wine, and we believe this event offers the perfect platform to achieve that." LAW SCHOOL has also proven to make a GREAT gift…”and yes - probably 20% of our graduates due have ideas of continuing and even working in or starting their own wine business.”

ABOUT IAN BLACKBURN, WINE ENTREPRENEUR

Ian discovered the wine industry at the ripe age of 21 while working for famous Chefs such as Thomas Keller and Joachim Splichal in Los Angeles’ top dining rooms. The discovery of wine and the massive need for wine knowledge quickly engulfed Ian’s life and his passion redirected his career from Restaurants and Hotels to Vineyards and Education. Soon enough in 1995, LearnAboutWine.com was born, becoming the first website dedicated to wine education.

With over 25-years of experience traveling the wine world, Ian is a published author (Wiley Publications, 2002), has 10 vintages of top level winemaking on his resume at Beekeeper Cellars and is considered one of the region's best wine educators. Ian’s push to evolve and his ability to pivot has produced a strata of new concepts such as, ZoomIntoWine.com (virtual education), Merchantofwine.com (the family’s online wine store), and now the return of in-person gatherings with LearnAboutWine.com - using all the great gathering spots in LA as potential venues.
