It’s always a treat to have our good friend Maurizio Farro in the shop, and even more so than usual this Saturday as he pours a fascinating set of wine. Join us and Maurizio from noon-4pm to sample:

Fontanavecchia Tauberno Falanghina del Sannio BjondoRE 2023 – Once again, Tre Bicchieri! With big citrus, orchard and stone fruit flavors, it’s fun to drink solo and has the salty minerality to make a terrific seafood wine, too.

Fontanavecchia Taburno Falanghina del Sannio Facetus 2015 – Proof that Falanghina can age from a late-harvested selection aged in tank and steel and really given time to stretch out and develop wildly herbal complexity.

Tenuta Cucco Dolcetto d'Alba 2022 – A delicious take on Piemonte’s everyday grape, this has loads of purple fruit and lavender character in a surprisingly silky, pure, frame.

Tenuta Cucco Barolo Serralunga D'Alba 2019 - A powerhouse Barolo that wants 2+ hours in decanter now and then delivers the kind of rich, dark, character you expect from Serralunga. The 95 point Wine Spectator write-up captures it nicely: "This pure version boasts cherry, raspberry, rose and menthol aromas and flavors. Supple in texture, this is tightly wound and bursting with vibrant acidity."

Tenuta Cucco Langhe Rosso 2020 – Like a Bolgheri super-Tuscan Bordeaux blend – except from Barolo country! This is a bit of a wild ride and if you enjoy Cabernet/Merlot richness and steak-friendly fruit, you’ll flip for this rarity.

With all these Italian wines, naturally we’ll be sampling a German cheese! Alp Blossom is a semi-hard cow’s milk cheese that is coated in a confetti of 13 different dried summer flowers and herbs from the German meadows grazed by the cattle. Dusted with cornflower, marigold, rose petals, lavender, chervil, marjoram and more, this is deeply flavored cheese balanced by floral/herbal freshness.

Come say high to Maurizio and enjoy an exciting range of very delicious, very well-priced, Italian gems on Saturday from noon-4pm.
