Since 1894, five generations of the Fenocchio family have cultivated vineyards in Monforte d’Alba. For much of that time, their wines were sold locally, but that changed in 1964 when the dynamic and ambitious Giacomo Fenocchio took the helm. Determined to produce the finest Barolo, he acquired prime parcels in Cannubi and Castellero, yet his heart remained in Bussia, which he considered the soul of the Barolo region.

When Giacomo passed away in April 1989, his son Claudio, still young, assumed responsibility for both the vineyards and the cellar. It was a challenging period for Barolo, as many winemakers shifted toward more modern methods. However, Claudio remained committed to tradition, continuing to produce wines using organic farming practices, extended skin contact fermentations, and aging in large Slavonian oak casks. Today, his wines are celebrated for their extraordinary expression of terroir, placing him among Barolo’s finest producers.

On Tuesday, October 29th, La Connessa will host its first-ever wine-maker dinner, featuring Eleonora Fenocchio, Claudio’s daughter. She will present the family’s exceptional wines alongside a special menu crafted by Chef Freedom Rains in our brand-new private dining room, making this an unforgettable milestone for La Connessa.
