South Africa is home to some of the most breathtaking terroirs in the world. More than 300 years ago, the Dutch introduced winemaking to the land that merges the Indian and Pacific Oceans. South Africa has been on a bit of a roller coaster with its winemaking: it produced Constantia in the 18th Century, which was one of the world’s most famous wines, then took a dip in quality by producing wine in bulk. Now South Africa is producing some of the most innovative wines with the help of young winemakers who are focused on sustainability and low-impact wine practices. In this boot camp, we will discuss everything past, present, and future in the South African wine-making scene.
Class includes a tasting size portion of 4 different wines and a food pairing.
