We’ll kick off the weekend with a taste of our featured Italian red of the week plus four wines that will be debuting at Saturday’s Value festival. Join us Friday from 3-7pm to try:
Mary Taylor (Christophe Avi) Agenais Rose 2023 – The new vintage of this favorite Cabernet (Franc and Sauvignon) rosé from France’s Southwest.
Ch Vartely Viorica Moldova 2021 – More grapes per person in Moldova than anywhere in the world, including a tiny bit of the native Viorica white that’s nicely full and finishes dry and crisp.
Anton Bauer Pinot Noir Wagram 2022 – Toni’s Wagram Pinot is a terrific value that straddles the line between Burgundy minerality and New World fruit with a nice touch of savory smoke, too!
Tupa Malbec 2020 – From the lower (for the Andes, anyway) slopes of Mendoza, this has a lovely ripe and plump feel with plenty of Malbec fruit and no oak. Great value.
Kelleri Andrian Lagrein Rubeno 2023 – Full of black fruit and with wonderful savory complexity, this is a perfect fall-into-winter red. As the Washington Post says in the 4-Star rave, “It’s all here.”
Also “all here” during the tasting – Jose’s latest cheese selection: Grafton Village Cheese Co Bear Hill. This is an alpine-style raw sheep milk cheese aged in cave for at least 7 months. It combines the sweet and nutty flavors characteristic of alpine cheeses with a fruity and savory complexity brought on by the sheep’s milk. Unexpectedly, it will be a great match for the Viorica on tasting! Come try the pairing for yourself!
