Ahead of our big Southwest Wine Festival Saturday and visit from Passopisciaro Sunday, here’s a preview tasting that will whet your appetite for more! Join us on Friday from 3-7pm to sample:
Dom Brana Irouleguy Blanc Ilori 2021 - If the only Basque whites you've ever tried are Txakoli from the Spanish side of the Pyrenees, this blend of Petit Courbu and Gros Manseng from France will show you something new. Floral, mineral, intensely flavored and utterly weightless.
Passopisciaro Passobianco Terre Siciliane 2021 – As Vinous says, this wine is “dreamy.” It’s 100% Chardonnay planted on silty, powdery, soils in the Guardiola contrada. Rich enough for Chardonnay fans, brisk enough for lovers of Italian whites, exciting enough for all!
Ch La Caminade Cahors Mission La Caminade 2022 – There will be a lot of terrific wines on tasting Saturday, but it’s hard to find a better value from here or most anywhere else! Blending Malbec with a little Merlot, a whole lot of wine from $9.98.
Dom Philemon Gaillac Rouge Prunelart 2019 – Lots of unfamiliar grapes in France’s southwest, including Gaillac’s Prunelart which is seldom seen in blends and almost never on its own. Kind of a Beaujolais meets Chinon vibe here.
Passopisciaro Passorosso Terre Siciliane 2022 – Not “just” an Etna Rosso, this is Nerello Mascalese from some of Etna’s finest sites (50% Guardiola) and vines aged 80-100 years. Rich, layered, powerful and perfect for drinking now and over the next decade.
Jose has picked out a special treat from the cheese case to enjoy with the wines, and you’ll also enjoy the mix/match discounts on all the wines during Friday’s tasting. Come in and get warmed up for the big weekend events to come!
