This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! These recipes are normally passed on from generation to generation, but we are bringing them to the Kansas City Museum. We hope you will join us for a night of storytelling and yummy Indigenous inspired food:

Guests will sample:

Indigenous inspired salad with homemade vinaigrette
Buffalo hash with sweet potatoes and natural maple syrup
Pumpkin soup
Corn cookie with a sample from O-gah-pah Coffee

Melissa Garrett is a chef that has been working in the community for the past 7 years. Melissa is an enrolled member of the Quapaw Seneca Cayuga and Cherokee tribes. She started first as a baker and now as a indigenous chef. She has been working for the past several years with the heart of American Indian center to help bring indigenous foods to the community.

Melissa now owns her own business Wadulisi's she travels around teaching others about indigenous food. She also teaches other schools and school districts about indigenous people as well as indigenous food being a second-generation storyteller. She is now working towards having her own restaurant. Melissa was a pow wow princess of the inner tribal Indian society of the greater Kansas City in 2003.

She is currently taking classes at Auguste Escoffier School Of Culinary Arts School to earn her associates and culinary arts. Here at Wadulisi's we believe in preserving culture one plate at a time. We want to bring indigenous food to your home.
