Local Event
Wine has always been regarded as one of France's great treasures, so when Nazi Germany invaded the country, Hitler was keen on pillaging the cellars across the country. What he may not have expected was the community of wine professionals both in France and in Germany who would risk life and limb to protect what they believed to be the greatest wines in the world. The stories of these winemakers and wine dealers are told in the thrilling book Wine and War by Don & Petie Kladstrup.
This book has been so popular in the community we have built at our Neighborhood Restaurant Group wine classes, that Erin Dudley has decided to start a book club featuring a new book each month.
At this tasting, we will discuss the stories told in the book while tasting the wines made by the characters we grew attached to in our reading! Let's sip the wines these producers fought so hard to protect!
