Join us for a fun-filled evening of hands-on cooking, where you'll learn to create a delectable cuisine with Evelyn's Midtown Kitchen.

Join us for an Authentic French Holiday Cooking Class featuring Coq Au Vin! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn to prepare this classic dish, slowly braising chicken in red wine with aromatic herbs, mushrooms, and bacon. Our skilled chef will guide you through traditional techniques and share tips for achieving rich, deep flavors. Immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere, and enjoy a delightful meal at the end, perfect for celebrating the season with family and friends!

This Evening's Menu:

Coq Au Vin

Potato, Celeriac and Apple Gratin

Chaussons aux Pommes - Apple turnovers with puff pastry

Note: Feel free to bring your favorite bottle of wine to enjoy during the class! Tips are welcome, but not required—they're completely optional.

Wine Pairing:

  • Red Wine: A classic Burgundy (Pinot Noir) pairs beautifully with the Coq au Vin, as its earthy notes complement the wine-braised chicken and the potato, celeriac, and apple gratin.
  • White Wine: For a white option, consider a Chardonnay from Burgundy to balance the creaminess of the gratin and the buttery pastry of the apple turnovers.
  • Dessert Wine: A sweet Sauternes or Cider pairs wonderfully with the Apple Turnovers, enhancing the caramelized apple flavors.

What to Expect:

• You'll partner with other students in groups of four, sharing workstations and culinary equipment.

• Classes typically run for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, unless otherwise indicated.

• Our hands-on classes maintain a cozy size, accommodating 12-20 students, in Shed 5 at Eastern Market

• Be prepared for an active session, as you'll be on your feet, cooking, and fully engaged for the majority of the class.

• For your comfort and safety, we recommend wearing comfortable, closed-toe shoes and securing long hair away from your face.

• Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen is committed to maintaining common sanitation standards, and for this reason, you may be asked to wash your hands multiple times to contribute to the safety of food handling.
