Local Event
Chef Mary Kastman began her culinary career in Madison with Chef Justin Carlisle (Restaurant Muramoto, 43 North) before relocating to Boston in 2011, where she discovered her love for Eastern Mediterranean food and spice while working at Oleana and Sarma restaurants. Mary relocated to Viroqua, Wisconsin and took on the role of Executive Chef at the Driftless Cafe in the spring of 2019, where she was a James Beard Semi-Finalist for Best Chef, Midwest.
Chef Kastman will spend 3 days in residence at Seven Acre where she will explore her passion for local food and agriculture through the lens of eastern Mediterranean flavors through a series of dinners with different formats.
Day one, diners will embark on a culinary journey where Chef Kastman will present a family-style, small plate dining experience infused with the vibrant flavors of meze. Guests will be treated to a delectable fusion of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, featuring rich spice blends, aromatic herbs, and bold flavors characteristic of Levant. Chef Kastman's highly vegetable-focused menu will showcase the essence of this traditional cuisine, creating a unique dining experience that celebrates the enticing flavors of the region.
