Born and raised in Jalisco, Mexico, founder Victor Diaz grew up amidst a rich tapestry of heritage, tradition and endless agave fields. After moving to Texas in 2012, Diaz worked as a bartender at Maudie's, a beloved Austin institution where he eventually recruited regulars and industry locals to bring his vision to life. For more than a decade, he cultivated a new foundation rooted in community, hospitality and immense pride for Mexican & Texan cultures— a spirit that now lives on through Carabuena.
Carabuena is made from 100% blue weber agave grown and harvested in Jalisco, preserving authenticity in every bottle. Diaz’s deep-rooted connections to the land shine through in both taste and presentation. Every element of the Carabuena experience, from the hand-blown recycled glass bottles crafted in Tonalá to the Indigenous-honoring label art designed by Pistache, an artist from Tabasco, pays homage to the Mexican artistry of tequila.
