Ben Paris Salmon Derby Dinner
The Ben Paris Salmon Derby Dinner isn’t just a dinner—it’s a nod to Seattle’s original rule-breaker and big-idea guy, Ben Paris. We're talking about the man who didn’t just sell fishing rods—he started the city’s first salmon derby, helped shut down commercial salmon traps in Puget Sound, and made sure we all have plenty of Pacific Northwest bounty to enjoy today. Conservation and innovation were his game, and he played it like a boss.
This dinner is our way of tipping the hat (or fishing cap) to his entrepreneurial swagger and relentless conservation hustle. Expect a menu packed with salmon and other PNW faves, paired with wines from Browne Family Vineyards—crafted with the same dedication to quality and heritage that Ben Paris brought to the community. Founded by Andrew Browne as a tribute to his family, Browne Family Vineyards shares a commitment to preserving the best of the Pacific Northwest, making their wines the perfect complement to this evening.
The evening will feature a 5-course meal, beginning with an amuse bouche, followed by a first course of fried halloumi salad and a second course of pan-seared beef tenderloin. The main course will be Alaskan salmon with carrot ginger purée, lentils, bacon lardons, grilled fennel relish, and microgreens, all paired with six distinct wines from Browne Family Vineyards. Then end the night on a sweet note with a take-home sampling of Ben Paris' classic macarons.
To make the evening even better, take the elevator home with a special room rate of $159 at The State Hotel, exclusively for dinner guests. Enjoy a cozy stay just steps from Ben Paris and wake up in the heart of downtown Seattle, ready to explore the city or relax after an unforgettable night!
*Please note, on-site parking is not available. Dinner guests can book parking in advance at the 2nd and Union garage located one block from Ben Paris, here.
