Local Event
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Ladies, Lords, and Nobles! Your company is requested for an afternoon of Medieval revelry at Castle Grandma’s Kichene! Partake in a Five Course Feast befitting the nobility! Games of skill, songs, stories, and other merriment will abound! We pray thee attend this royal gathering! Sunday, the 17th of NovemberFrom 3:30 in the afternoon until 7:00 in the evening.
Of the utmost importance is to remember thy manners. Appropriate dress is encouraged and we pray thee do not forget thy eating knife. Although should thee forget, one will be provided as to avoid embarrassment. As is always the case, elbows shall be kept off the tables and picking thy teeth and scratching at the table will be likewise frowned upon.

Menu in Plain English: Please Note: All recipes used will be historical in nature, although slight alterations make take place in order to make dishes more enjoyable for modern tastes. Still, the preparation of the foods will be different from what we are accustomed to today. Please come with an open mind and step back in time for a Medieval Europe-inspired afternoon!

-Soup: Turnip Soup
-Salad: Arugula Salad with Sage, Rosemary, Mint, Fennel, Parsley, Shallots, Leeks, Garlic, and Flowers with Olive Oil, Vinegar, and Salt
-Entree: Stewed Chicken, Breaded Chicken, Stuffing, Root Vegetables in a Sweet Vinaigrette, and Scrambled Eggs with Apples
-Dessert: Bread Pudding, Candied Horseradish, Dessert Soft Pretzel, and a Cookie
-Beverages Available at the Bar: Beer, Wine, Spiced Wine, Spiced Grape Juice, Soda, Juice, and Sparkling Water

Should you wish to, you are encouraged to come in your choice of Medieval clothing!
If you wish to offer your entertainment talents during the event, please indicate this while registering. We are looking for troubadours to read excerpts from literature and to lead the guests in singing a choral song. We are also looking for minstrels who would like to perform a short talent. Are you able to juggle? Do you wish to tell a joke? Do you have a short story to tell? Have you memorized a poem? Let us know what you'd like to offer while registering! Medieval-themed offerings encouraged, of course!
It was traditional to bring your own eating knife to Medieval feasts! As such, we encourage you to join in the fun and bring your own knife from which to eat during the event. Forks will not be provided unless requested as they did not exist at the time. Bowls for washing fingers will be provided as well as napkins though!
While registering, please indicate if you would prefer the title Lady, Lord, or Noble. Please indicate any groups you would like to be seated with when registering as guests will be assigned to houses and we want to keep your group together.
One hour of axe throwing at Target Zone is included with your ticket to the event. Target Zone is at Arnot Mall on the first floor, near Grandma's Kitchen.
There will be a photo area and photo props available and you are encouraged to take and share photos of the event!
Please note, while all aspects of this event have been researched and are inspired by the history of Medieval Europe, we do not claim to be experts by any means and many aspects will be lacking in authenticity.
Closed toe shoes are required. Flats do not count either. Think sneakers or boots!

All Plant-Based/Vegan: All items are plant-based/vegan and made with love at Grandma’s Kitchen. Menu is subject to change based on availability.
Local Ingredients: Menu features local produce from Ever Green Farm, Muddy Fingers Farm, and Silver Queen Farm. Menu also features Crystal City olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Parking: Ample free lot parking is available. Park and enter where you see the Regal Movie Theater entrances and go up to the Food Court on the second floor. Grandma's Kitchen Arnot Mall is located in the former Friendly's.
Accessibility: An escalator and an elevator are available to access the second floor. The restrooms are accessible and within Grandma's Kitchen on the same floor. Because Grandma's Kitchen is in a former Friendly's, the tables are built in booths. Wheelchairs are able to be accomodated at three of the tables. If you require an accessible table, please indicate this during the event registration process or email us at grandmaskitchenarnotmall@gmail.com.

Beverages: Soda, iced tea, juice, beer, wine, and cider will be available for purchase from our bar during the event.
Cancelations: If you need to reschedule or cancel, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to help you out. 48 hours before the event, we are no longer able to offer refunds because we will be busy cooking and preparing for you. If there is availability, we may be able to switch you to a different seating at the same event. Otherwise, we can offer your meal To Go. Please note, in case of a refund, Eventbrite retains their fee.
