Includes all WSET study materials, a case of wine tasting samples selected by Jay Youmans MW (packed in small screwcap bottles), 5 online sessions guided by Claudia Chamberlain, DipWSET and MW Candidate, the examination, and a digital certificate and badge for those who pass the exam.
This 5-class course will be taught on Zoom on the following Sunday evenings from 6:30pm – 9:30pm: January 5, 12, 19, 26 and February 2 with an in person exam at the Capital Wine School on Sunday, February 9 at 3:00pm.
Students who enroll in the course will pick up their study materials and wine samples at the Capital Wine School on January 3 between 12:00pm – 5:00pm. *Please scroll down to Additional Information for important details regarding wine sample and study materials pick ups.
The aim of the course is to focus on the key grape varieties and regions of the world. While the course provides an overview of the wines and of the world, including main wine grapes and regions, it also covers factors affecting wine quality and style, grape growing, and basic winemaking practices. The course emphasizes tasting assessment and the skills required to describe the aromas and tastes of wine. It helps to develop fundamental tasting and assessment skills. During each class session, students will taste 4-6 wines. The exam takes 1 hour and consists of 50 multiple choice questions. Those who pass the exam receive the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines, an internationally recognized credential in the wine industry.
17 Guided Learning Hours (including one hour for the examination) and 11 hours’ private study.

Wine sample/study guide pickps: Please make a note of the wine sample/study guide pickup date mentioned in the schedule above, as it will not appear on your registration confirmation. We cannot accommodate requests for wine sample pickups in advance of the date/times mentioned above. Students who are unable to come to the school to pick up their wine samples and study guide may have their materials shipped to them for an additional shipping fee – please email info@capitalwineschool.com for more information. Requests for shipping must be received at least 7 days before the first class. Finally, wine samples for those who request and pay for shipping will ship to arrive on or around the day of the first scheduled class, and we cannot accommodate requests for earlier arrival, nor can we guarantee a delivery date.
