This course is for current WSET Diploma candidates only, and candidates must have completed Units D1 and D2 before attempting this course. We also strongly advise also taking Unit D4 and/or Unit D5 before attempting this course, as there are skills and concepts that will be learned in these units that will better students’ chances for success in Unit D3.
In this course you will learn how grape growing, winemaking, maturation, wine law and wine business influence the style, quality and price of the principal wines of the world, and you will learn how to taste and evaluate wines from around the world.
Please note that this course is limited to 23 participants so early registration is recommended, as we expect it will sell out.
This course, which covers theory and tasting, will be taught on Zoom on the following weekend dates in 2025. The time-frames below include a brief break for lunch, with the morning sessions running from 9:00am – 12:15pm, and the afternoon sessions running from 1:00pm – 4:00pm (subject to minor changes as needed):
January 4 & 5 – 9:00am – 4:00pm both days
January 25 & 26 – 9:00am – 4:00pm both days
February 15 & 16 – 9:00am – 4:00pm both days
March 8 & 9 – 9:00am – 4:00pm both days
March 29 & 30 – 9:00am – 4:00pm both days
April 26 – 9:00am – 12:30pm (mock theory exam)
April 27 – 9:00am – 12:00pm (mock tasting exam) – 1:00pm – 3:00pm (debrief for theory and tasting mock exams)
The final exam on May 13 & 14 takes place over two days. Day #1(theory) is open-response/ essay questions given during two sessions taking 3 & ½ hours to complete. Day # 2 (tasting) consists of two 1 &1/2 hours sessions and is comprised of 12 wines tasted blind.
