Sat, May 17, 2025 (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM)
Date is displayed in (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Cost: $125.00

Join us for a unique tasting and deep dive into the wines of Savoie and the French Alps with acclaimed author and regional expert Wink Lorch, whose book Wines of the French Alps remains the definitive guide to this underappreciated but fascinating corner of the wine world.

Wink will introduce us to the distinctive grapes, alpine terroirs, and passionate producers that define this region. Along the way, she’ll share stories and insights from her extensive time spent in the region and from the making of her book.

All are welcome, although those already intrigued by alpine wines or Wink’s previous work will especially enjoy this opportunity to taste and learn alongside her.

Guests may purchase Wines of the French Alps in advance through Académie du Vin Library. A limited number of copies will also be available for purchase and signing at the event.

Participants may choose to attend in person at the Capital Wine School or virtually on Zoom.

In Person Participants

  • Please note that the building in which we are located does not have an elevator, and there are several sets of stairs to navigate to get to our classrooms on the second floor.

Virtual Participants

  • Virtual participants may pick their samples up at the Capital Wine School between 12pm – 5pm on May 16.
  • Virtual participants who are unable to pick their samples up may request shipping for an additional fee. However, due to various factors we are unable to guarantee delivery by the event date. Participants who choose the shipping option are welcome to attend the Zoom session live without samples and will receive a recording of the tasting so that they may enjoy the wines alongside the recording at their convenience.
  • Requests for shipping must be received at least 7 days prior to class, and all registrations for virtual attendance must be received by close of business the Monday prior to the class.
  • Additional information regarding curbside pickups will be emailed a day or two prior to class.

To ensure a quality experience for all participants, each class or course requires a minimum number of registrations. If this minimum is not met, we may need to cancel the session. In such cases, registered students will be notified as soon as possible and provided with options for rescheduling or a full refund.

By purchasing your ticket(s), you agree to our payment, refund, cancellation, and reschedule policy.
