Local Event
Nestled in the foothills of the Italian Alps, Piedmont is a gastronomic treasure trove. It is famous as the land of white truffles, the chocolate capital of Italy, as well as the birthplace of gianduja (the combination of chocolate and hazelnuts). Piedmont, however, is even more famous for its wines. In this class, we will get to know this amazing region via its grapes: Dolcetto, Arnes, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. We will also explore the villages of Asti, Barbaresco, Alba, and of course, Barolo through their wines. In the past Barolo was known as the “Wine of kings, and the king of wines”. To this day, Barolo continues to hold its own as one of the most prestigious wines in Italy and the world.
Wine importer, Patrick Allen, will guide us through the vineyards, villages, and wines of Piedmont. Patrick is a thirty-year wine industry veteran. In addition to having traveled and tasted extensively in Piedmont, Patrick also has a strong family connection to this beautiful region of Italy. So, join us on a tasting tour of this magical place, with a few special treats along the way.
