The Wines of Spain Grow Mainly on the Plain

Are you a major fan of Tempranillo but don’t know where Ribera Del Duero is? No problem. Or do you think that a Touriga Nacional is a Spanish revolutionary? It’s a grape used in making port. Reserve a seat at Roberto Hernandez’s upcoming wine tasting class about the wines of Spain & Portugal. You’ll learn lots and go home after sampling crisp Albarino, Vinho Verde, vintage Riojas, and silky port along with a vegetable paella, machengo cheeses and enough food to complement the wines. Roberto is a Bay Area wine educator and enthusiast who offers wine classes and debunks many of the misconceptions people have about the world of wines--and they are fun and informative in an intimate setting of a background garden. The cost is $50 and the class is limited to 12 people. The class is on Sunday, August 24th from 4 to 6:30 pm at 1347 Minna Street in the Mission District of San Francisco. Reserve a seat via robertgotwine@comcast.net , or 415-832-9871. Viva Rioja!
