Join us for an afternoon on the Shenandoah River as we enjoy a whitewater rafting trip and picnic. Enjoy the beautiful summer foliage as we travel on two rivers through three states (Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia) on an unforgettable 2 to 4 1/2 hour invigorating trip (the length of the rafting depends on the speed of the rapids that particular day). A riverside picnic (chicken, potato salad, watermelon and a beverage) is also included on this whitewater adventure.

Rafters will float by the historic town of Harpers Ferry while hearing about events that led to the Civil War. Then it's on to the final stretches of the Shenandoah as it tumbles into the Potomac River, carving a spectacular 6.5 mile watercourse through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Weather permitting, our trip will take a break to allow you to soak up some sun and enjoy a picnic right on the river!

Things to consider for the trip:

- Do not wear cotton on cold days. Cotton wicks the heat away from you when it gets wet and will cause you to become hypothermic. Wear wool, or PolyProtm -- these will keep the heat in. Wear Spandex and wool. Sweats are most definitely out, until after you get back to dry land. Also, best to wear old sneakers instead of flip flops or new sneakers which could get ruined.

- Everyone needs to wear a life vest; we will provide you with an approved life vest, so please do not bring one with you

- How to know what to wear: Know the weather conditions. Being prepared is the best way to keep warm. Check to see what the water and air temperatures are. If you add the air temp, adjusted for wind chill, and the water temp together and they equal less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, you are in prime hypothermia conditions. You must also wear shoes.

- If you're going to bring a camera, make sure it has a sturdy strap so you can hold onto it

Important note: You must arrive on time for this event. The shuttle bus leaves promptly at 2:30 pm and we need to check you in beforehand (and go over guidelines). The bus cannot wait if you arrive late and there are no refunds. Trip is rain or shine.

Space is limited so order soon!
